The artist of the week this week is Norman Rockwell. He is known for being an excellent painter and being able to capture the zeitgeist of America. Zeitgeist refers to be the spirit of the times. Rockwell captures Zeitgeist in this image because it exemplifies the American dream by showing a large family happily eating a Thanksgiving feast. This is the type of life that many in America dreamed of.
